Amos Sharp

Amos Sharp born April 3, 1832, in Ashtabula, Ohio.

His parents were James Sharp and Sally West.

Amos's first wife was Martha Pelton.

Martha was born in Stockbridge, Ingham, Michigan, Her parents were John Pelton and Susannah Gilman.

Amos and Martha had three children Mary born 1858, Joanna born 1859, and Franklyn born 1862.

Martha apparently dies shortly after the birth of Franklyn. I have not been able to find a death certificate or any gravesite. Some say she died in Allegan County Michigan. If she died in childbirth or shortly after, she would have passed away in 1862.

Amos married Cordelia Harriet Finney and had John, Cora, Eugene, Bertha, Emily, Claude Nelson, Federick, Mertie (Myrtle), Della, and Forrest.

I am not able to find a death record for our grandfather. It seems that he may have been buried in Higbee Cemetery in Mecosta County Michigan but there is no record on Find-A-Grave.

Amos was either divorced or widowed between 1862 and 1866.

Amos first child by second marriage is Cora born in 1866, about 4 years after Franklyn was born.

Amos's last child Forest was born in 1887 so the date of death would be after that year. Family Bible has date of death being 2/22/1897
